Chef Owen McGlynn opened STORM Rhum Bar & Bistro
in the spring of 2011. While working his way through
college, the Cleveland, Ohio native discovered he belonged
in the kitchen. He packed up and left Bowling Green
University for Charleston, South Carolina, pursuing a
Culinary Arts degree at Johnson & Wales University.
Owen has always possessed a passion for creating simple
dishes with bold, complex flavors. While in Charleston,
he also espied a love for whole beast butchery and southern
cuisine. He began working with highly influential chefs,
ranging from Mike Lata to Jason Scholz, eventually assuming
the position of Sous Chef at the award-winning High Cotton
on the Peninsula. He was selected to open High Cotton’s
Greenville, South Carolina location, and from there, was
hand-picked to become Executive Chef of STORM Rhum Bar &
Bistro. In May of 2013, a lifelong dream was realized as he
became General Manager, creating one vision for the
complementary culinary and beverage collections.
Owen continues to put his heart and soul into everything
that leaves his kitchen. He continually expands his outreach
to engage a variety of local boutique farmers, providing
the freshest options for STORM’s ever-changing menu.
